Restaurants in Plymouth Wisconsin (German Fare at the Depot)

Mill Street suppers, pizza and barbecue, Mexican on Eastern Avenue, fish fry on the county roads and breakfast every day of the week.

Plymouth eats in two places: on Mill Street downtown, where you can walk from pizza to barbecue to a German supper in a few blocks, and out along Eastern Avenue and the county roads, where the drive-ins, the chains and the roadhouse grills are. This is a map of the restaurants in Plymouth, Wisconsin, sorted by what you are hungry for, with the straight-line distance from downtown for anything beyond walking range.

Several kitchens close one or two days a week, so the days given here come from each restaurant's listing and are worth a quick check before you set out.

Downtown sit-down dinners

For a sit-down meal within walking distance of the Cheese Capital arch, start with the German supper at the Depot or the big plates at Antoinette's.

PJ Campbells at The Depot on Depot Road serves German food with prime rib, steaks and a Friday fish fry, in a building put up in 1912 as a railroad depot and turned into a restaurant in 1973. Owner and chef Patrick Campbell runs the kitchen, according to Travel Wisconsin, and the sides lean German: potato pancakes with applesauce and dinner rolls.

The restaurant's own listing promises plentiful servings of homemade food, so come hungry or plan on a box.

Antoinette's Casual Dining at 18 West Mill Street is the family-friendly option with the long menu: pizza, pulled pork mac and cheese, cheese bread and soup served with soft pretzel sticks. Its listing says one order of mac and cheese can stretch to more than one meal, and it is open Wednesday to Sunday, closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

The restaurant shares its name with Antoinette, the Holstein cow statue on South Milwaukee Street. The cow, the murals and the cheese arch are all part of a day out in Plymouth within a few blocks of your table.

Eight of the downtown kitchens line up along one stretch of Mill Street, so it helps to know the order. Walking east from Antoinette's at 18 West Mill, you pass Red Shorts Cafe at 210 East, City Club at 228 East, Hub City Restaurant at 409 East, DeO's at 417 East, G Scoops at 433 East, Big Billy's at 437 East and Pacifico at 506 East. The Cheese Capital arch stands at 603 East, just past Pacifico.

Pizza

Plymouth's pizza options include a build-your-own pub downtown.

DeO's Pizzeria & Pub at 417 East Mill Street is a longtime neighborhood spot for build-your-own pizza, with plenty of toppings and gluten-free crusts. It doubles as a pub, so it suits a group that wants pizza and a beer in the same booth.

Sweet Basil on Walton Drive, about 1.9 miles east of downtown, is an unassuming Italian restaurant with a large patio, serving linguine, chicken Parmesan and other Italian standards. In summer, ask for a table outside.

Domino's on South Highland Avenue covers delivery and carryout. Out in the country, Roots Bar & Grill on County Road C, about 4.6 miles east, puts a BLT pizza with smoky bacon on a crisp crust alongside its prime rib.

Mexican and Chinese

Plymouth has two Mexican kitchens, one downtown and one on Eastern Avenue, and a Chinese restaurant on Walton Drive.

Las Brisas on Eastern Avenue, under a mile east of downtown, brings out chips and salsa with every meal and cooks queso fundido with steak, skirt steak and grilled shrimp. Cantaritos are on the drinks list.

Pacifico Mexican Bar and Grill at 506 East Mill Street is the downtown choice, with a long menu that runs from nachos supremos and fajitas to seafood Vallarta and ribeye steak. Its listing says it opens at 11 a.m. every day for lunch and dinner, takes online orders for pickup and can seat larger groups with a reservation made ahead.

For Chinese-American food, Dragon Buffet on Walton Drive, about 1.8 miles east, has General Tso's chicken, crab rangoon, lo mein, fried dumplings and peanut butter chicken, with online ordering for takeout.

Tavern food downtown

Two downtown taverns cook more than bar snacks, and both fry perch. City Club Tavern & Grill at 228 East Mill Street fries hand-breaded perch and builds its steak sandwiches with Schwaller meat on City Bakery buns, using local meats and hard rolls.

Its listing puts the kitchen open until 10 p.m. on Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday and until midnight Thursday to Saturday, with lunch Tuesday through Sunday, so it is a late option downtown. On Elizabeth Street, Humphrey's Turner Hall Bar & Grill serves breaded perch in a hall with space for live music.

Antonio's Sports Bar & Grille on West Mill Street cooks bar food, caters and has a banquet hall, and its listing says it is known for its Bloody Marys.

Barbecue and supper-club-style grills

Barbecue in Plymouth comes from two kitchens, one on Mill Street and one north of town, and both smoke brisket and pulled pork.

Big Billy's BBQ Bar and Grill at 437 East Mill Street smokes brisket, pulled pork and wings and makes its own barbecue sauce, with mac and cheese and steamed broccoli on the side. It is closed on Tuesdays and opens at 9 a.m. on Sundays, according to its listing.

North of town on Summit Road, about 4.7 miles out, Rumors Roadhouse BBQ serves barbecue dinners of brisket, pulled pork and ribs, plus a brisket flatbread pizza and a Reuben, and it has an event space for parties.

The bar-and-grill suppers are out on the county roads, and several of them list fish. Racer's Hall on County Road C, about 3.2 miles east, lists all-you-can-eat ribs and hand-breaded perch among its daily specials, with Henny Penny chicken and wings. JAAAGZ Bar and Grill on Highway 67, about 2.8 miles north, does a bluegill fish fry, broasted chicken and broasted fries.

Roots, mentioned above for its pizza, serves prime rib with green beans and a salad bar, and packs its fish fry to take home. Lakehouse Bar and Grill on County Road C, about 4.5 miles northwest, keeps to burgers, Reubens, turkey clubs and spicy green beans, and its listing singles out Monday wings with the sauce on the side.

Fish fry days and times can change, so call ahead before you drive out on a Friday.

Racer's Hall, JAAAGZ and Roots are bars as much as kitchens, with taps, drink specials and Old Fashioneds, and the bars in Plymouth include them alongside the Mill Street taps.

Drive-ins and ice cream

For a quick burger or a cone, Plymouth has a classic drive-in, a downtown ice cream shop and two custard and soft-serve chains on Eastern Avenue.

Chester's Drive-In at 1504 Eastern Avenue, under a mile east of downtown, makes burgers, brats and steak sandwiches, and the drinks list includes butterscotch floats and pineapple malts. Its listing gives hours of 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week.

Islands, writing about Plymouth in May 2026, picked out Chester's for inexpensive burgers, fries and sundaes.

Downtown, G Scoops at 433 East Mill Street scoops ice cream and soft serve, makes sundaes and mixers, and sells baked goods and sugar cookies, with flavors such as Campfire S'mores.

Farther out on Eastern Avenue, Culver's does frozen custard and burgers and Dairy Queen does soft serve and shakes.

Quick lunch

For a fast lunch with a local angle, go to the cheese shop. The Cheese Counter and Dairy Heritage Center at 133 East Mill Street makes grilled cheese sandwiches, including one with jalapeño peppers, and a Turkey Triumph with ranch, from the same counter that sells the town's cheese.

Pic-A-Deli on Douglas Drive, just under a mile northeast, runs a lunch menu and caters events.

On Eastern Avenue, Jimmy John's makes subs and wraps, including the Turkey Tom and the Vito. Krispy Krunchy Chicken, on the same road, fries Cajun-style chicken and wings.

For a sit-down lunch with soup and salad, Devour WI at 1611 Eastern Avenue makes salads, sandwiches, soups and wraps, with gluten-free and vegetarian options, daily specials and outdoor tables.

Breakfast

Breakfast in Plymouth is mostly a morning-to-mid-afternoon business, with a downtown diner open every day and a cafe on Eastern Avenue serving breakfast all day.

Hub City Restaurant at 409 East Mill Street is a family restaurant serving breakfast and lunch from early morning to mid-afternoon, seven days a week. Eggs are cooked to order, the biscuits and gravy come with eggs, and the portions are large.

Plymouth Cafe on Eastern Avenue serves breakfast and lunch all day, from omelets and hash browns to chicken fajitas and fish and chips, and its listing gives hours of 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. every day. Red Shorts Cafe at 210 East Mill Street does a shrimp, prosciutto and asparagus Benedict and biscuits with chorizo gravy, and is closed on Tuesdays.

Coffee, donuts and sourdough loaves are a morning of their own at the coffee shops and bakeries in Plymouth. Roadside Bar & Grill on Highway 57, about 2 miles east, also serves breakfast, with a breakfast burrito and a pecan waffle.

Eating near the hotels and the track

Plymouth's four hotels and motels sit downtown or east of it, and Chester's, Las Brisas, Culver's and Dairy Queen are on Eastern Avenue between about 0.8 and 1.8 miles east. If you are staying at one of the Plymouth hotels on the east side, Eastern Avenue is your dinner street.

On a race weekend at Road America, about 3.9 miles north of downtown, the track's own concessions run during public events, and JAAAGZ on Highway 67 sits between town and the circuit.
