Pickleball in Menomonee Falls: 17 Courts, 9 Courts or Free?

Pickleball Kingdom's 17 indoor courts, The Picklr's 9, the free outdoor pair at Village Park and the rec department's fall Thursday sessions, with 2026 prices.

Most of the pickleball Menomonee Falls plays now happens indoors, at two clubs: Pickleball Kingdom with 17 courts on the south side, which FOX6 reported was getting ready to open in spring 2025, and The Picklr with 9 courts on Appleton Avenue, which opened in August 2025. Add 2 free outdoor courts at Village Park downtown and a weekly indoor session the school district's recreation department ran this fall, and there is a game here for every budget.

The real choice is how often you play and whether you want a booked court or a pickup game.

Pickleball Kingdom: 17 indoor courts on Shawn Circle

Pickleball Kingdom is at N58 W14900 Shawn Circle, about 3.9 miles south of downtown, with 17 climate-controlled indoor courts.

FOX6 reported the building at 60,000 square feet when the club was getting ready to open in spring 2025.

The club page lists a pro shop with paddle demos, a large community and event space, snacks, drinks and alcohol, and lessons, clinics, leagues, tournaments and open play. It opens Monday to Saturday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and on Sunday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

For drop-in players, open play costs $15 a session in the early morning, late morning and evening slots, or $10 from 1 to 4 p.m., and a reserved court costs $15 an hour. Memberships start at $99 a month for one player, with a Golden plan at $59 a month for players 60 and over that includes free weekday open play and court bookings from 6 a.m. to noon. There is a $100 initiation fee, or $50 on the Golden plan.

Two-player and family plans cost $169 and $209 a month, and members pay no court, player or drop-in fees and get a free daily locker.

The Picklr: 9 courts on Appleton Avenue

The Picklr is at N78W14511 Appleton Avenue, about 1.9 miles southeast of downtown, with 9 dedicated courts including a championship court.

When it opened in August 2025, CBS58 noted the black walls, chosen so the bright green ball stands out.

It is open every day from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., and its pro shop is run with Pickleball Central. Memberships include a $79 Play plan and a $119-a-month unlimited adult plan, with a $59 unlimited junior plan and a $30 trial for 15 days. Non-members can book a court for a single session or buy a day pass at the front desk.

The higher Pro plan costs $159 a month and a family plan for up to 2 adults and 4 juniors costs $239, annual plans save up to 15%, and there is no long-term contract. Its site also lists a 3% surcharge for card payments, which is worth knowing before you sign up.

General manager Marko Grgic told CBS58 at the opening that it was the most properly set up high-performance pickleball club in the world, and the club runs clinics, lessons and leagues for every level.

The two clubs are about 2.4 miles apart, so if one is full the other is close.

Free outdoor courts at Village Park

Village Park, at N87W16749 Garfield Drive, has 2 dedicated outdoor courts with permanent lines and nets, and they are free. Pickleheads notes that the nets may not be up in March.

The village keeps its parks open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. between April and October and until 6 p.m. in winter. The park sits about 0.1 miles from the middle of downtown, beside a splash pad and a performance stage, so it works for a family outing where only some of you play.

The Village Park courts are concrete, while Haupt Strasse Park in Germantown has hard courts, so bring outdoor balls for both. From November to March the village closes its parks at 6 p.m., so on winter evenings the indoor clubs are the place to play, since both stay open until at least 9 p.m. every night and Pickleball Kingdom keeps its courts climate controlled all year.

Indoor sessions through the recreation department

The community education and recreation department has run indoor pickleball on 3 courts in the Community Center gym on Margaret Road. Its fall 2026 daytime session ran on Thursdays from September 3 to October 15 and was meant for players who already know the game, with balls provided and players bringing their own paddles.

Watch its catalog for the next session if a weekly indoor game is all you need.

More courts in Germantown and Brookfield

Haupt Strasse Park in Germantown, about 3.4 miles north, has 4 free outdoor courts with permanent lines and nets, along with a skate park and a playground. Its Local Eyes listing sits under Germantown.

To the south, Ace Pickleball Club is listed in Brookfield on Calhoun Road, about 8.3 miles from downtown Menomonee Falls.

New to pickleball?

Start at one of the clubs rather than the rec department, because the recreation session is meant for people who already know how to play. Both clubs list lessons and clinics, and FOX6 reported a free Pickleball 101 class for beginners when Pickleball Kingdom was preparing to open in 2025.

Pickleball Kingdom's pro shop offers paddle demos, so you can try a paddle before you buy one, and The Picklr's shop sells paddles, balls, clothing and accessories. Once you can keep a rally going, the free courts at Village Park are the place to practise.

Which pickleball court in Menomonee Falls should you pick?

If you play several times a week, a membership is likely to work out cheaper than paying per session, at Pickleball Kingdom at least, where open play is $15 a session against $99 a month. If you play now and then, $15 open play at Pickleball Kingdom or a single booked session at The Picklr keeps it simple. If you are 60 or over and free on weekday mornings, the Golden plan's free open play and court bookings from 6 a.m. to noon are built for you. If you want free, take your own paddle to Village Park or to Haupt Strasse Park in Germantown.

Either way, cool down after a game at the falls and lime kilns downtown or out on the Bugline Trail.
