Salsify: a refined take on South African food Lunch at Salsify is a shortened version of the dinner tasting menu, built around local produce and indigenous herbs like buchu and imphepho. It opens with a fynbos hand exfoliation and a walk through the preservation room of this historic Dutch East India Company-era building. The amuse-bouche trio was a standout: amagwinya with a fish filling, a crab canapé with citrus pearls, and a play on Cape Malay pickled fish. My highlight was the first course of dry-aged local yellowtail, paired with the Lost Boy Fumé Blanc 2024, my favourite wine of the day. Service was warm, and the storytelling was considered without feeling rehearsed. Highly recommended for anyone wanting South African food with a refined touch.
