i've come here a couple times and every time hits the spot! came last night and decided to finally leave a review! lovely place in wausau, great views of the town and the decoration inside is cute. service was great. host was friendly, chatted with us a bit as we went to the table, and our server was polite and told us lots about the menu. i forgot her name though!!! she gave us some recommendations which were nice even though we've eaten here before! food was delicious! salmon was tasty, super soft and such a good taste. chimi bread was awesome as usual too!! drinks were good as well but honestly i forgot what i got! (old picture of one of the drinks because i forgot to take any last night since i was so hungry) i'd love to come back again and i definitely will be back!!!

Both my husband ordered steak. It came with garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus. The steak was cooked perfectly.. my husband loved the mashed potatoes but I felt like they could use more garlic, but still not bad. The asparagus was cooked perfectly. The views of Wausau were awesome. We had never been there before, so it took us a little longer to figure out that the restaurant was on the top floor. The bathrooms were fantastic. Clean, updated and the hand dryer actually dried my hands. Our waitress was kind, but not very attentive keeping our drinks refilled. All in all, we will eat here again. We went at 4:30, so it was not very busy.

We went to the Velveteen Plum on Valentine’s Day. Velveteen Plum’s claim to fame is being the first rooftop restaurant in Wausau. Some info, a few highs, and a few lows: Info: The desserts rotate. Some options include cheesecake and tiramisu. Call in to see what’s on! Definitely call in — ours was a special case for Valentine’s Day, but they were booked solid from 4:30 to close already a week before. The brunch menu is different from the dinner menu, so make sure you know when you’re going and what they’re serving. The highs: The atmosphere is very professional and modern. There are no blaring TV screens, the views are really stunning, the staff is well put together, and everything just gives a cultured air. The raspberry no-jito mocktail was one of the best we’d ever had. The Chimichurri bread had a little too much oil and could have had more Chimichurri, but it was delicious. Our waitress Hailey was friendly, kind, and observant. Thank you Hailey! The lows: Honestly, maybe it was just what we picked, but our entrees weren’t as good as we were expecting. For $24, having six fried shrimp, a batch of fries on the small side, and five bites of slaw COULD be really upscale and great, but for the flavors and the quality, I’m not sure if was a $24 meal. Same with the fish tacos. Our food wasn’t warm, either, which was disappointing. All in all, the aesthetic and professionalism is something else. While some of the food wasn’t the best meal you’ll have in your life, it’s Wausau’s best upscale eating that we’ve found so far. If we come again we’ll try different entrees!
