First off, they "cook your catch" no questions asked. We had to call just about 10 places to find someone that would. They cooked our Ocean Trout up in 3 different ways and it was amazing. Made our trip. Awesome staff, great atmosphere and food couldn't have been any better. Thanks for a great experience!

Visited Rick’s on the River for lunch on a Saturday in June while looking for a casual waterfront dining spot. The restaurant has a large outdoor patio with plenty of seating, including high-top tables near the bar and larger tables that work well for families and groups. While it’s not directly on the water, it’s located beside a small marina, so you can watch boats coming and going and enjoy water views from much of the patio. It also looks like a convenient stop for anyone arriving by boat. Even on a hot Florida afternoon, the patio was comfortable thanks to the numerous fans throughout the outdoor seating area. I ordered the blackened fish wrap with a fruit cup. I appreciated having lighter side options instead of being limited to fried choices. The fruit cup was fresh and tasty, and the wrap itself was very good. The fish was blackened and flavorful, and I was told I could substitute other available fish if I preferred. Service was friendly and attentive. It’s a seat-yourself setup, but a server came by quickly to make sure I had everything I needed. Rick’s isn’t a destination restaurant that I’d drive across town specifically to visit, but that’s not really what it’s trying to be. It’s a relaxed local spot with good food, good service, a comfortable outdoor atmosphere, and nice marina views. If you’re in the area and looking for a casual lunch or a place to unwind by the water, it’s definitely worth a stop. Bill $ wrap only.

I usually just grab a drink here but wanted to check out the food selection. Over all, everything was pretty good. My oysters had some shell fragments in them, but flavor was 10/10. I’m happy I tried the smoked fish dip, it was solid and fairly priced. Another new dish we tried was little neck clams. They were paired with delicious garlic toast. I had no idea they were so small, and probably wouldn’t try those again as they were not my cup of chowder. Of course we had to try the jalepeño poppers as well, for $13 you get 6. Service was great, and overall had a lovely time and we will definitely be back. Stopped back in and had more oysters (less shells this time!) tried the crab cake too (not my favorite) and I had the Mahi Mahi sandwich. Food wasn’t quite as good as the first time around but no complaints!

If you’re looking for the perfect waterfront spot in Tampa, Rick's on the River is a must-visit. The atmosphere is laid-back and quintessential Florida, making it a great place to unwind. They have plenty of outdoor seating, so you can enjoy the breeze right by the Marina. The live music always sets a fun, upbeat vibe for a weekend afternoon. As for the menu, the food is consistently good. You can’t go wrong with the onion rings—they are perfectly crispy—and the catfish is always fresh and flavorful. Whether you arrive by car or boat, it’s a fantastic local gem for cold drinks and great eats!
