Gaspar’s Grotto has a really cool pirate theme and a fun, laid-back atmosphere. We stopped in around 9:30 on a Thursday. It wasn’t overly busy, but there was still a nice local crowd, and the outdoor live-music area added even more to the vibe. The Devil Crab was really good, although the Crystal butter was much too spicy for us. The Pork Havana plate was just okay. The meat was cooler than expected, a little wet, and so heavily seasoned that it became somewhat overwhelming. The absolute highlight was Trinity behind the bar. She was phenomenal, friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome. She even whipped up a special key lime pie martini for us, and it was amazing. The regular Cosmo was fantastic too. The food was decent overall, but Trinity’s service, the great drinks, and the atmosphere are what will make us return customers.
