Quality has tanked since new ownership took over. Every time I come in: Multiple flavors out of stock or you can see the bottoms of the tubs, dirty dishes left behind because the tubs are already filled, even when the store has no customers. They still have signs up with all the flavors and sodas but don’t have much in stock so you don’t know what you can actually order. This caused us to play a guessing game with the employee. Even then the soda fountain was down so they gave us Great Value bottled carbonated water?? So the soda tasted really bad. Staff aren’t really attentive. They just hang in the kitchen when they could at least make sure the store is presentable. Hopefully they can turn things around soon. This was my first job 18 years ago and it’s sad to see it like this now. Please have a talk with your staff and ask them to at least care or put some kind of effort into their work. It doesn’t feel like Scoop De Ville it’s starting to feel like a Burger King.

Several of my preferred ice cream flavors, such as mint and cookies and cream, were unavailable. There was a wide selection of sorbets, however. I visited with my grandson on Wednesday afternoon after lunch. The counter was empty of customers, and the establishment was very quiet. There were two individuals dining in the restaurant. Two teenagers, a young girl and boy, were working. Upon attempting to find a seat, we discovered that every available area had dirty dishes and was quite unkempt. During the half-hour we were present, no effort was made to clear or clean any surfaces. Both employees entered the dining area and departed without removing any items. They assisted a few customers while we were seated near the wall. The young lady went to the back and he made cones. I politely expressed my concerns about the cleanliness of the establishment to him before I departed; he appeared surprised. He did not offer an apology, but simply stated that they had served a large group earlier. I remained for a few minutes to browse the bakery and the freezer section. He did not proceed to clean; instead, he returned to making cones. I was disappointed and will not be returning.

A fantastic addition to downtown Hartford. Outstanding 50's theme ice cream shop, with simple food and a bakery in the back. Open on holidays after the parade. I recommend the 3 scoop turtle 🐢. Lots of old-fashioned snacks and memorabilia, they even USE a rotary phone.
