A 318-acre city park with a petting zoo and trails
Oh this park and small zoo is a treasure. I have been coming since they started with the bear in the cave and I travel far and come often. It is clean, plenty of activities from walking, biking, jogging, fishing, animals, picnic tables, etc, etc I can go on forever. Stop in one afternoon and if you have never been then you will be hooked.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We stopped at Irvine Park in Chippewa Falls on our way up north, really just looking for a place to have a quick picnic and stretch our legs — and we were pleasantly surprised! It’s a beautiful park with plenty of picnic areas, but the unexpected bonus was discovering the little zoo you can walk through, along with the historic buildings and exhibits. What was supposed to be a quick road-trip break turned into a really fun little stop. Definitely worth pulling off the road for if you’re passing through Chippewa Falls!
I have came here twice now, and both times the inside has been closed when they say it is open on the website. The zoo is free, which I think it should be for how few of different types of animals they had when I visited. The back part of the zoo had multiple enclosures, but they only had a single hyena in one of them. There was about a dozen different species of animals in the whole zoo.
