Restored High Victorian Italianate mansion on West Grand Ave

About

Cook Rutledge Mansion is a historic house museum in Chippewa Falls, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Built in 1873, our High Victorian Italianate residence preserves the history of the regional lumber era. Docents lead guided tours through the furnished interior, highlighting hand-painted wallpaper, stained glass, and detailed woodwork from the home's original era. We also hold seasonal public events, including a holiday open house. The house and grounds accommodate up to 60 seated guests for weddings, corporate meetings, and catered luncheons, offering indoor and outdoor event spaces on West Grand Avenue.

We came on a Sunday and Katie was there to give us the tour it is a beautiful home, lots of history and stories of the people who have lived there and built the home. I would tell anyone who's in the area to take the tour. Katie was very knowledgeable on the home and families, and the Chippewa area.

The Cook-Rutledge Mansion is a beautiful piece of Chippewa Falls history. The stunning architecture, original details, and rich history made for a memorable visit. Our tour guide, Kirk, was knowledgeable, engaging, and had a great sense of humor that made the tour even more enjoyable. His stories and insights brought the mansion's history to life while keeping the tour fun and entertaining. Highly recommended for anyone interested in local history or historic homes. Call ahead and schedule a tour.

Did a tour today for a friend's birthday and was blown away by the whole experience! The house is beautiful and our tour guide, Katie, had so many fun tidbits for us throughout. She was a lot of fun. Highly recommend spending a few hours here learning some local history!

Beautiful mansion! Everything is decorated so amazingly. The details in the woodwork, the hand painted wallpaper, the stained glass. The holiday open house was so pretty, and everyone there was very nice and extremely knowledgeable.

They had an annual thrift sale there, so we went here for the first time. The sale was very nice, we will come back again! And they had a tour at 10am and 2 pm, so we took the tour. It was worth it! We learned a lot about the history and architecture. Very fruitful time. Thank you so much!
