About

Stellenbosch Atelier is a fine art studio in Stellenbosch providing classical drawing and painting instruction. Established in 2005 in Jamestown, our studio offers individualized tuition for both beginners and experienced painters. Instruction is led by South African artists Vivian van der Merwe and Fiona Metcalfe, who bring over 60 years of combined academic teaching experience to our classes. Sessions focus on developing individual style, core drawing and painting techniques, and foundational creative practice. Our curriculum also includes a monthly illustrated art history seminar as part of student tuition. We are open weekdays, with evening sessions on Mondays and Tuesdays, and remain closed on weekends.
