Absolutely exceptional from start to finish. From the moment we arrived, the team was warm, welcoming and incredibly knowledgeable. Each course was beautifully explained by different members of the team, which made the whole experience feel very personal and engaging. The food was outstanding — a beautiful combination of Japanese influence and South African ingredients, with every dish thoughtfully put together. We had a lovely surprise on the final course where they incorporated our pictures into the dessert course as a treat. The setting, service, food and overall experience were all exceptional. Mertia is a true fine-dining experience, and I would absolutely return. Highly recommended!

Just an EXCEPTIONAL experience from the moment we walked in to dinner to dessert. The attention to detail in flavors and presentation of each course was impressive. The icing on the cake was dessert. We were celebrating my sisters birthday MERTIA made a photo of us in a frame (like a wafer) putting it on top of her favorite dessert, carrot cake. BRILLIANT!!!!

We had the most incredible dinner at Mertia to celebrate my birthday! We were blown away by the food, the amazing staff and the atmosphere of the restaurant. We both did the non-alcoholic pairing which was a very unique and fascinating experience and a great option if you aren’t drinking! Would highly recommend adding this to your foodie bucket list! We can’t wait to go back again soon 🤍

We had the best time at Mertia. The service and staff were fantastic! The food was great and the non-alcoholic drink pairings were OUT OF THIS WORLD! The passion and level of detail put into the drinks was palpable. For the final course they even added our wedding photo into the dish, and we were shocked on how special and thoughtful this detail was. Can't wait to go back on our next Stellenbosch visit.

Did not expect to have such an excellent fine dining experience in the heart of Stellenbosch. The food was of exceptional quality, the crayfish was perfectly cooked, the view was good and the service can be given a golden star, I felt like a special guest. The only small letdown was that we had to wait quite a while for the bill. I will definitely tell my friends about Mertia.
