Fine dining lunches and estate wines in Klapmuts
A firm favourite in the Paarl area. The vintage MCC is lovely — nutty and full of character, well worth ordering. Food has been consistently good across visits, and the dining room is warm and cosy rather than showy. I like doing the tasting at the bar; it's a more relaxed way in. Leave time for the art collection stroll before you go.
We took advantage of their Winter Special: 3-course set menu @ R425 pp (+ bottle of complimentary wine per couple who order the 3-course). Everything - hands down a 5* rating! Our waitress was attentive without being pushy. We were allowed to enjoy a long, slow lunch. Our meals were all incredibly tasty, with fair portion sizes and well presented. There wasn’t a starter, main, or dessert that we wouldn't recommend. Starters: Chicken Livers, Snails & Leek Pastry, Grilled Pear, Tomato Soup Mains: Lamb Shank, Duck Leg, Ostrich Steak Dessert: Tiramisu, Cheesecake Brownie It's recommended to make a reservation timeously as the restaurant was fully booked the weekend before and the day of our reservation. I highly recommend Glen Carlou!!
Friends suggested this venue & we decided to give it a try. What a beautiful place to have an amasing lunch with views to die for. As you walk into this venue you are greated by smiles all around, we were made to feel so welcome, thank you. We placed our orders & were blown away when the cuisine arrived, starters, main course & deserts with lots of libations. Each dish was a small master piece & the tastes matched each one. If you're ever in this area & looking for a great place to have amasing food, look no further, this is the place for you. To the management & staff thank you for a great experience, much appreciated. The establishment boasts an exceptional ambiance and picturesque scenery, creating an inviting atmosphere. However, the menu is limited in variety, and the dishes lacked flavor, which detracted from the overall dining experience. Service was excellent. It's definitely worth a visit.
