We had a fantastic visit to De Grendel Wine Estate and really enjoyed the experience. It is a beautiful place to spend a day, with an amazing setting, great wine, excellent food and some of the most spectacular views across Cape Town. One of the first things that impressed us was the location. Sitting at the foot of the Tygerberg Hills, De Grendel has an incredible view towards Table Mountain and across the Cape Town landscape. On a clear day, the scenery is absolutely beautiful, and it creates a very relaxed atmosphere from the moment you arrive. We really enjoyed taking our time to explore the estate and enjoy the surroundings. There is something special about sitting down with a glass of wine, looking out towards Table Mountain and simply enjoying the moment. It is the kind of place where you don't feel like you need to rush. The wine tasting was definitely one of the highlights. De Grendel has a great selection of wines, and the tasting experience gives you a chance to try different varieties while learning more about the estate and its wines. Whether you're already a wine lover or just enjoy trying something new, it is a very enjoyable experience. The food was another big highlight for us. The combination of good food, quality wine and the beautiful surroundings makes for a fantastic outing. Everything comes together to create that classic Cape Winelands experience, but with the added bonus of being so close to Cape Town. We also really appreciated the atmosphere. It feels classy and special without being uncomfortable or overly formal. It is suitable for a relaxed family outing, a special lunch, a couple's day out or simply spending a few hours enjoying the wine and scenery. For us, De Grendel was one of those places where the setting is just as impressive as the experience itself. The views of Table Mountain, the vineyards, the beautiful estate and the opportunity to enjoy some excellent South African wine made it a memorable visit. If you're visiting Cape Town and want to experience a wine farm without travelling too far from the city, I would definitely recommend putting De Grendel on your list.

What an incredible experience at De Grendel Wine Estate! We visited for a wine tasting and chose the Classic, Heritage, and Legacy tastings, and every single wine was exceptional. It was fascinating to experience the different collections, each with its own unique character and story, and it’s clear that a lot of passion and craftsmanship goes into every bottle. The highlight for me was definitely the Rubaiyat range, especially the 2012 vintage. It was beautifully balanced, full of depth and complexity, and easily one of the best wines I’ve tasted. A truly memorable wine that made the visit even more special. The setting is just as impressive as the wines. Sitting on the estate with breathtaking views of Table Mountain and the Atlantic Ocean creates an unforgettable atmosphere that’s hard to match. It’s the perfect place to relax, enjoy outstanding wines, and take in some of the most spectacular scenery in the Cape. The staff were welcoming, knowledgeable, and made the tasting both informative and enjoyable without ever feeling rushed. From the exceptional wines to the world-class views and warm hospitality, De Grendel exceeded all expectations. I highly recommend a visit to anyone looking for an outstanding wine tasting experience in Cape Town. This is definitely a five-star destination, and I can’t wait to return.

My family and I visited De Grendel on a friend’s recommendation, and it exceeded all our expectations. We’re quite picky when it comes to dining out, but everything was exceptional. The food was absolutely sublime—beautifully presented, full of flavour, and perfectly executed. The location is stunning, with exquisite views of Table Mountain that make the experience even more special. The service was also outstanding. Our waitress, Fiona, was attentive, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to ensure there were gluten-free options for me. She even arranged a lovely birthday surprise at the end of the meal. A truly memorable experience. Highly recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Went here for a very late lunch and an afternoon wine tour of the estate. The lunch was nice though I would not recommend going off-peak hours like I did, as the kitchen seemed overwhelmed. The food was quite nice and the staff was polite and accomodating. This place is all about the scenery and the wine though. If you want a nice lunch and/or nice wine this is a great pick for you. The estate tour was alright bit honnestly I felt like we didnt get an up close look at much so I wouldnt expect too much from the tour.

I have tried their merlot before and it is definitely a classic. The Rubaiyat really stood out for me. This was an unforgettable experience. Valentines day 2026.
