An unforgettable evening at The Living Room, a dining experience that rivals the finest culinary destinations in the world. From the moment we arrived, every detail was curated with intention and elegance. We indulged in an extraordinary eight-course tasting menu, seamlessly paired with exceptional South African wines from the Western Cape. Each course was a masterclass in flavour, texture, and storytelling, deeply rooted in the essence of KwaZulu-Natal while executed with world-class sophistication. The cuisine was bold yet refined, delicate yet deeply expressive. Every plate arrived like a work of art, showcasing local ingredients transformed into something truly transcendent. Layers of umami, smoke, spice, acidity, and freshness unfolded with remarkable precision, creating a sensory journey that was both emotional and unforgettable. Chef Johannes has created something profoundly special, a culinary identity that feels authentically South African while standing confidently on the global stage. His attention to detail, innovation, and reverence for local produce are nothing short of extraordinary. Combined with flawless service, the warm glow of the fireplace, and the soulful sounds of live African guitar drifting through the space, the evening felt cinematic in every sense. This was not simply dinner. It was theatre, artistry, culture, and hospitality woven together into one spectacular experience. Durban is incredibly fortunate to have a restaurant of this calibre on its doorstep. The Living Room is more than a restaurant, it is a destination. A place that reminds you just how powerful food can be when it is treated as both craft and art. Bravo to Chef Johannes and his exceptional team for delivering an evening we will remember for years to come.

The most outstanding dining experience that you can have in the greater Durban region. Innovative use of seasonal, local ingredients creatively brought together to create a symphony on your palate. Each serving is small but it adds up to a sumptuous feast.
