Axe Hill Winery (Pty) Ltd

About

Axe Hill Winery (Pty) Ltd is a boutique winery in Calitzdorp on Wesoewer Road. Planted over 30 years ago in the Klein Karoo, our vineyard focuses on Portuguese grape varieties, including Touriga Nacional and Tempranillo. Our artisan winemaking process relies on small parcels of grapes handled with age-old techniques. We produce our wines by hand from harvest to bottling right on the farm. Wine tastings take place directly in our cellar and are conducted in person by the winemaker. Guests can pair their tasting with house-made tapas prepared in our farm kitchen. We are closed Mondays.

Hubbie and I spent a wonderful Saturday afternoon with Mike and Pam! They treated us to delicious home made tapas, made with LOVE, not store bought, we enjoyed a variety of wines and I fell in love with Mike's knowledge and passion for winemaking. This was a boutique and authentic experience. You must stop there on your next trip to Calitzdorp. Esme & Charl Brink

Small artisanal winery producing wonderful wines, mostly made from the local Portuguese grape varieties. The winemaker gives an entertaining and knowledgeable presentation of his craft.

Axe Hill is a booutique cellar situated on the Wesoewer (West Bank) on the outskirts of Calitzdorp. We stock the Axe Hill white port. When Mike Neebe, their winemaker, is in town we organise private cellar visits. When he is not in town his wines are available to purchase from the Blue Bottle Liquor.
