An unforgettable meal and a wonderful winery experience! Our visit to Château de Ferrand was one of the highlights of our trip to France. We enjoyed a fantastic winery tour and a truly unforgettable meal—honestly, one of the best meals of our entire trip. The wine pairings were exceptional and complemented the food beautifully. We enjoyed the wines so much that we bought a case! The property itself is beautiful, with meticulously manicured grounds and so much care evident throughout. The interior is equally impressive, wonderfully decorated with original artwork alongside pieces by famous painters. Being surrounded by such beautiful art added another dimension to the visit and made the whole experience feel even more special. A special shout-out to Lucy, our guide and sommelier, who deserves so much credit for making our visit memorable. She was incredibly knowledgeable and informative, and we thoroughly enjoyed learning from her. Lucy, thank you for making an already wonderful experience extra special! From the tour and the beautiful surroundings to the outstanding food and wine, Château de Ferrand was a real treat. We can’t recommend it highly enough!

Château de Ferrand is the kind of stay that quietly resets your idea of what a château hotel should be. Set among the Saint-Émilion vineyards, it feels less like a hotel and more like being given the keys to a very beautiful private house. There are only three rooms, which makes the whole experience unusually intimate. Mornings are slow, the salons feel almost entirely yours, and the vineyard seems to take over as the main event. A huge part of that atmosphere comes from the extraordinary work of Jouin Manku. Their approach to the interiors is sophisticated without being showy, allowing the history and architecture of the château to remain present while introducing something distinctly contemporary. The result is beautifully restrained: tactile materials, considered lighting, sculptural details and a sense of space that feels both refined and incredibly comfortable. Nothing feels over-designed; every element seems to belong. And then there is the hospitality. Chelsea, Laëtitia and Ana bring an extraordinary warmth to the experience. Effortlessly attentive, intuitive and genuinely welcoming without ever feeling formal or rehearsed. They seem to understand that great hospitality is often about the smallest things: remembering a preference, knowing when to step in, and making you feel less like a guest and more like someone who belongs there. Their care is a huge part of what makes Château de Ferrand memorable. A particular highlight is the breakfast. Beautifully presented, incredibly fresh and clearly prepared with care, it is the sort of breakfast that turns into an hour-long affair simply because there is no reason to rush. Sitting there in the morning, surrounded by the calm of the estate, is one of those small travel moments that feels almost cinematic. But the real pleasure is the rhythm of staying here. Everything feels connected to the place rather than packaged as an “experience.” It’s not the château for someone looking for a conventional luxury hotel. There’s no need for a spa or a long list of facilities. The luxury is privacy, silence, wine, architecture and having nowhere else you need to be. Stay for at least two nights. One night gives you the postcard; two lets you actually inhabit the château. There was, however, one area where the experience fell short of the standard the château otherwise sets. When an issue arose during our stay, the manager was unfortunately not available to address it directly. At this level of hospitality, having senior management accessible and empowered to resolve an unexpected problem would make a meaningful difference. It feels like an important opportunity for the château to refine an otherwise exceptional guest experience.

We loved our tour at Chatêau de Ferrand! The property is stunning and we had a great explanation of the wine-making process, followed by another great tasting. Our guide was Balthazar and we were really impressed with his knowledge and passion for wine - this really made a difference for our tour.

An extraordinary place and amazing experience. We took the tour through the vineyard and ended with a blending experience where we had the chance to make our own wine. Special thanks to our guide, Ana, who made the day truly fantastic.

What a great visit and dégustation! Our guide Balthazar was super well-informed and helpful. We learned a lot about winemaking at this particular chateau and in Saint-Emilion in general. He was especially helpful during the dégustation, finding a way to help us navigate the wines as amateurs and still have a lot of fun. We also really loved the "wine time" like a high tea but with wine. All the dishes were prepared by the onsite chef, particularly exquisite! One of our overall favorite visits in Bordeaux.
